Sunshine Cove camp's origin begins back around World War II.  Sunshine Gospel Mission of Chicago begins bringing kids to camp at Lake Lundgren Bible Camp in Pembine, Wisconsin.  When the train stopped going so far north in the late 50's, a new alternative was sought.  The Lord led the board of Sunshine Gospel to a property in Union, Michigan.  The former Camp Longwin was purchased and renamed Camp Sun-Chi-Win (Sunshine - Chicago - Winning kids to Christ).  For many years, the camp prospered, and young people were finding Jesus Christ, and being challenged as they "Used the creation to teach about the Creator” 

Going into the 80's, camp began to loose its luster, attendance dropped, and camp was just about abandoned.  New leadership was brought in, with a renewed vision and energy, and the camp re-established itself.  Buildings were added or rebuilt, and the program was re-vamped and revived.  At this time, the camp was renamed Sunshine Cove Camp.

Another generation, another challenge.  At the close of 2007, SGM was forced to close camp and sell it.  However, the Lord had other plans.  In March of 2008, SGM entered into an agreement to sell the facility to a brand new organization, dedicated solely to ministering to those in need through the ministry of Christian Camping.  We have begun a new era, building on the strong principals of the past, and fitting them into today's style of ministry.  Sunshine Cove Christian Camp, Inc.’s ministry is geared towards giving opportunities to those who would not get them otherwise.  We will also serve other Christ-Centered organizations by hosting groups in the “off-season.”
